Job description

We’re looking for a Business Development Manager – Data Centres (Spain) to spearhead our commercial efforts and expand our footprint in one of the most dynamic markets in Europe.

Pioneering advancements in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and smart and hyper connected infrastructure technology are driving innovation in the data centre sector, enabling faster, more efficient data processing and storage solutions. Deerns plays a key role in these transformative developments by ensuring that data centres are secure, redundant, sustainable and compliant with the highest industry standards and regulations. We design for resilience, energy efficiency, scalability and cost effectiveness for data centres ranging from major hyper scale to distributed edge. In this job you will contribute to shaping the future of digital infrastructure and support critical operations that drive progress across industries and connects the world!

In the job of Business Development Manager Data Centres for Spain you will take ownership of our commercial strategy in the Spanish market, driving opportunities from initial contact to signed contract—while working closely with clients, partners, and Deerns’ international team of experts. You will be part of a global commercial team and collaborate daily with our experts, designers, engineers, project managers and many other professionals. Our globally distributed data centre team comprises more than 250 people, about a third of the 750 people working with Deerns.

Your responsibilities

As Business Development Manager, you will:

  • Lead all commercial activities for the Data Centres business in Spain.

  • Act as a market-maker, strengthening Deerns’ visibility and positioning with clients, partners, and industry stakeholders.

  • Build deep relationships with key clients and partners, identify needs, and turn market intelligence into actionable opportunities.

  • Manage the full business development cycle—from lead generation to deal closure—with a bid-to-win mindset.

  • Collaborate with our technical experts to prepare proposals, define scopes of work, set pricing, and assess risks.

  • Lead contract negotiations with support from our legal team.

  • Develop tailored marketing materials and promote new service offerings with support from our marketing team.

  • Represent Deerns at industry events, panels, and associations—raising our profile and expanding our network.

  • Provide accurate revenue forecasts, track market trends, and contribute to strategic decision-making.

What we expect

To succeed in this role, you should bring:

  • A university degree in a technical field.

  • At least 8 years of proven experience in commercial/business development roles—ideally in the data centre, engineering, or construction sectors.

  • A strong track record of closing deals, building client relationships, and navigating complex stakeholder environments.

  • In-depth understanding of the data centre market, including project lifecycles, procurement processes, and stakeholder ecosystems.

  • Familiarity with consultancy and engineering environments, and a genuine interest in technology and innovation.

  • An established network of decision-makers within the Spanish data centre industry (owners, developers, investors, architects, OEMs, consultants, etc.).

  • Experience working across international teams and cultures.

  • Strong commercial, legal, and risk management acumen, with hands-on experience in bids, proposals, and contract negotiation.

  • A proactive, collaborative mindset with high ethical standards and strategic leadership skills.

  • Fluent communication skills in Spanish and English (Portuguese or other languages are a plus).
